Manufacturers design specific tow eyes for each car model to guide the vehicle down the assembly line. However, these tow eyes, with diameters ranging from ½” to 1” and threaded ends, are often missing or inaccessible when needed. The I-Bolt offers a universal hook-up solution, featuring a 2” x 1 ½” loop connected to a 7” long steel shaft with unique gripping teeth. These teeth lock securely into threaded holes on the front or rear of the vehicle.
To use the I-Bolt, insert it into the threaded hole, ideally behind the nut or at the back of the hole. Engage the gripping teeth by turning the loop clockwise while holding the knurled 1 ¾” knob, ensuring a firm and secure connection. The I-Bolt fits threaded holes with diameters from ½” up to 1 ¼”, providing a versatile solution compatible with over 200 vehicles listed in the Towing and Service Manual from AAA.
The package includes a 6’ x 2” polyester safety strap with a 4” looped end, designed to wrap around the control arm or sway bar. Additionally, a 3 ½” steel flat snap hook attaches to the I-Bolt, ensuring a positive and secure connection to the vehicle. Certified to pull up to 1,500 lbs., the I-Bolt allows you to winch the vehicle until all four wheels are safely on the bed. Level the bed and continue winching, stopping 3-4 ft. short of the winch to prevent bending the I-Bolt and damaging the bumper. Once the vehicle is loaded, remove the I-Bolt and secure the vehicle.
Important Note: The I-Bolt is not a recovery tool. However, when used following manufacturer and AAA loading instructions, it ensures a safe loading process, minimizing further vehicle damage. Do not use the I-Bolt for securing the load, as additional stress could damage the bumper and strip the threaded hole.
